How do I know if my child actually needs circumcision?
The clearest way is a specialist assessment. Signs that prompt many parents to seek one include a foreskin that won't retract (phimosis), recurrent infections, soreness, or ballooning when your child wees. We'll examine your child gently and give you an honest view - including whether a non-surgical option might be enough.
How long does recovery take for an older child?
Most children heal within a couple of weeks. You'll get clear, practical aftercare guidance (including tips on clothing, bathing and activity), out-of-hours access to our team, and follow-up visits at no extra cost.
How should we prepare our child for the day?
A little honesty goes a long way. We'll give you simple, age-appropriate ways to explain what's happening so your child feels informed rather than anxious, and you're welcome to bring a comforter - a favourite toy, blanket, or tablet. On the day we keep things calm and unhurried, and we let your child settle before anything begins.
What should we expect during healing, and what's normal?
Some mild swelling and tenderness in the first few days is completely normal. You'll go home with straightforward aftercare covering bathing, clothing, and keeping your child comfortable - and because worries don't keep office hours, you'll have out-of-hours access to our team and follow-up visits at no extra cost throughout.
Is it better to do this now or wait until my child is older?
There's no single right answer, and we won't push you either way. If there's a clear medical reason, addressing it sooner often means an easier recovery.
