Accessibility Statement

We want everyone to be able to use our website – regardless of disability, assistive technology, or how you choose to browse. This page explains what we do to make that possible, what we know could be better, and how to reach us if you need help

Our commitment

Gentle Procedures UK is committed to making gentleprocedures.co.uk accessible to all patients and visitors. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA – the standard recommended for healthcare providers in the UK, and part of our obligations under the Equality Act 2010.

This means our website is designed to work with screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control software, and other assistive technologies.

What we've done

Clear, readable content

All patient-facing pages are written in plain English, with medical terms explained in plain language. Text can be resized up to 200% in your browser without anything breaking or disappearing.

Screen reader support

Every image on the site has a text description so screen readers can convey the content to users who can’t see it. Decorative images are hidden from screen readers to avoid unnecessary noise. The website’s page structure uses correct heading levels so navigation is logical.

Keyboard navigation

You can navigate every part of our website using a keyboard alone – including our booking forms, menus, and pop-up windows. We include a “Skip to content” link at the top of each page. All interactive elements show a visible highlight when they are focused.

Colour and contrast

Text and background colours on our site have been tested to ensure they meet the minimum contrast ratios required by WCAG 2.1 AA. We never rely on colour alone to convey important information.

Forms and booking

All form fields are clearly labelled. Error messages tell you exactly which field needs attention and how to fix it. Required fields are indicated in both text and colour.

Video content

Any video content on our site includes captions and a written transcript.

Known issues

We carry out regular accessibility testing and work to fix any issues we find. If you come across something that doesn’t work as it should, we’d genuinely like to know – please use the contact details below.

Can't use our website? We're here to help.

If you’re unable to access any part of our website, or you’d prefer to receive information in a different format (such as large print or easy-read), please get in touch directly.

We aim to respond to all format requests within 5 working days.
